SELB Special Educational Needs Advice Service
Many children have special educational needs at some stage of their development. A child has 'special educational needs' if he/she has a learning difficulty, which calls for special educational provision to be made for him/her. This means a child may require extra support to help him/her. The aim of the SELB advice and Information Service is to ensure that parents of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) know where and how to access information and advice in relation to the needs of their children so that they can make appropriate and informed choices and decisions. An Advice and and information service has been set up in each of the five Education and Library boards For information on: - Specific Special Educational Needs - Regional and local support agencies and services - The statutory assessment process - Educational support for children with special needs visit websites SELB Special Educational Website: www.selb.org/specialeducation Regional website: www.education-support.org.uk or telephone 02837415355
