What is the requirement to take
RE at the College?
In years 11 & 12 everyone gets
the opportunity to study RE. They may choose one of the
- GCSE Full Course
- GCSE Short Course
- COA Entry Level
- Non Examined RE
What’s the difference between
the GCSE Short Course and the Full Course?
The Short Course is shorter! –
It’s taken on 2 periods per week – the Full
Course has 4 periods per week. Both courses are GCSEs and
will appear on your GCSE certificate alongside your other
Do I have to be ‘religious’
to take the course?
In a word – No! It’s
more important that you are intrigued to study religious
communities in all their complex reality and are interested
in finding out why Christians believe in what they do.
What will I study in RE?
Both courses follow a similar core.
There are four sections to each course:
- A study of world religions.
- The teachings of Jesus.
- The beliefs and practices of
the Christian Churches today.
