Integrated College Dungannon

13 March, 2013

Local schools from the Dungannon District travelled to the Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown to compete for the Dungannon Schools' Shield.

In their first game of the day, Integrated College Dungannon (ICD) played St Joseph's Grammar, Donaghmore. ICD got off to a difficult start, with key man, Bryan Casey having to come off with an ankle injury. However, they composed themselves from the restart and 2 goals in quick succession from Jasir Camara settled any nerves.

With a mature and disciplined performance from Jordan Boyd in midfield the ICD team controlled this area throughout the game. ICD dominated the match and went on to win 7-0, with goals from Jasir Camara (5), Jose Carvalho and Gary Cairns. This gave the ICD team great confidence and they went on to beat Drumglass High School 1-0, with Jordan Boyd scoring the all important goal.

The ICD team were then faced again with playing St Joseph's Grammar, Donaghmore in the final, a game they won 1-0 with a typical striker's finish from Jasir Camara.

Speaking after the tournament, Mr Ryan Coyle who coaches the U16 Soccer Squad at ICD, said 'All the boys involved performed excellently. Some of the team had to play in positions they normally don't and they really stepped up to the mark in every game. Following on from our U13 Tyrone Schools' Cup win in December, it is great for the U16 squad to bring the Dungannon Schools' Shield back to ICD'.
